Research into Music Videos by Chosen Artist

The problem with this is that Stan SB doesn't have any music videos. So instead we have chosen to look at music videos by other artists within the same genre. We think that this is the best thing we can do because he doesn't have any videos.

Time - Chase and Status

This is a very down to earth music video that portrays an important message and that is why I like it. It is also similar to what we want to produce in a way as we want to show an argument going on between a couple but ours will not feature any domestic violence. From a technical aspect this is also a very good, when the tempo increases during the chorus the cuts are to the beat of the music. The mise in some shots, such as the one of the man in the cell is excellent. This shot has been filmed with a wide angle lens to make his surroundings stand out to make him look smaller in the frame to make him look more isolated, which is how we see him as a result of his actions.

Me and You - Nero

This music video from Nero called "Me and You" is really good in my opinion, this is because it mixes real life with a video game and that is a cool concept. I like how the editing has been done, I think that it goes with the video and song well. The camera shots and angles make this music video feel really realistic at the beginning and you wouldn't expect it to then go into a video game. I also didn't expect this music video to show parts of a video game but it does and that makes this music video feel modern and perhaps futuristic.

There are quite a few shots in this music video (around 160), this is a very respectable amount for a music video in this genre although I did expect the shots to be edited along with the song so when there is a beat there is a cut but other than that, I think this music video is a good one to take some ideas from for our music video.

Witchcraft - Pendulum

This music video, along with a large amount of other Pendulum videos (such as Watercolour), is largely reliant on the editing capabilities used in post production. A large amount of CGI and green screen used to create a lot of the images, such as the tower of blocks being built/rebuilt at 1:55.
As for the use of the camera, there are not many stable shots used in this video; most of them are created by shaking the camera while recording (however may have also been done during the editing stage).

There are numerous shots of the band playing in a near pitch-black environment, possibly used to outline band, however the lighting used in these shots does not always allow you to see them completely; sometimes they look more like silhouettes.

Final Costumes

Man

Black coat:

He wore a black coat as for the majority of the music video he is viewed as the antagonist. Black is seen as a dark and sinister colour. it is the colour which is stereotypically seen being worn by an antagonist in a film.

White T shirt:

He was wearing a white shirt in parts of the music video when we didn't have much of a gauge for his actions so wt these points we see him as an innocent character. This feeling if further reinforced when we see him wearing the T-shirt towards the end of the video.

Dark blue or black jeans:

He wore dark blue jeans to contrast to the woman's light blue jeans to symbolise their contrasting opinions. He also wore these jeans because he is viewed as the antagonist as his behaviour is for the majority of the spectrum compared to the woman's behaviour. Dark blue, like black, is a colour which represents power, something all antagonists seek to gain.

Trainers:

He wore trainers to represent his down to earth straight thinking attitude. These trainers will also be dark in colour to further reinforce the connotations of the colours of the majority of the clothes he is wearing.

Woman

White top:
She wore a white top as white is associated with light, goodness, innocence and purity. These are the characteristics of the woman that we see in the music video as we see here as the victim throughout the video who only has one goal within the music video which is to mend what goes wrong in the video, as this is the nature of her character.

Light blue Jeans:

She wore light blue jeans which were torn at the knees as light blue is associated with healing, understanding and softness. These are also characteristics of the woman as her understanding compels her to mend what goes wrong in the video, as this is the nature of her character whilst the tears are there to reinforce the fact that she is the victim.
